We are really close to hitting the stretch goal to add a section on the Guns of GoldenEye N64 to Licensed Troubleshooter!
For a lot of people, James Bond was introduced not by Sean Connery, but by a 64-bit rendition of the world’s most famous spy in GoldenEye for the Nintendo 64. It was a hugely popular game when it was released in 1997. Looking back at it today the graphics are pretty miserable, but it is still a touchstone for a whole generation. I am joined today by Caleb Daniels, author of “Licensed Troubleshooter: The Guns of James Bond” and we are going to play some GoldenEye and then discuss the guns that are featured in the game.
Yesterday Hilary spoke of the need to “control everything.” The “men of the Occident chatted about James Bond. Quite the response. Schocking, yes. Nothing awesome. Maybe if you talk about your uncle on Guadalcanal that’d scare your global is the masters.
wtf? say again in English please.
Who’s Hilary?
AFAIK, the first time a Taser type “stun gun” was seen in a movie was Batman Returns (1992);

Although the original “Air Taser” (with 20ft wires and “darts”) was used in the third “Dirty Harry” movie The Enforcer (1976).
So maybe the use of the “taser cellphone” was inspired by the 1992 Batman movie.

I have a toy like ‘fry phone” that can make noisy sparks. cheap on line, isn’t a phone or probably much good as a stunner, never tried it.
First time seeing and playing that game at least 25 years ago, I was instantly hooked on it, more than on many others released at that time. However, I detest when games introduce fictional gun names.
