Yesterday we took a look at the Stemple-Suomi on the bench – today it’s time to find how similar it is in handling to the real thing! I have a Danish M41 Suomi, a Stemple-Suomi, and a couple of 71-round drums all ready to go…
The result? The Stemple pattern is virtually indistinguishable from the real thing on the range. If I was blindfolded, I don’t think I could tell the difference between the two in terms of recoil, controllability, rate of fire, etc. Fantastic!
Ian,
Go to the 5:30 point of your bench review where you show the two receiver plugs. The Stemple plug is about an inch longer or deeper into the receiver than the Suomi plug effectively making the bolt stroke the same.
Less muzzle climb from the hip…
I love Suomi ‘s too, good work Ian
The opening for the charging handle on the Stemple does apparently serve a similar function as the ventholes on the Suomi’s receiver plug, ie preventing air pressure from building up behind the bolt.
